Software product management (SPM) can be considered as a synthesis of the disciplines product planning, product strategy, and orchestration supporting a product from its idea to maintenance. Software product management consists of several important sub-disciplines like portfolio management and product life cycle management, which can be studied separately but only their combination within higher-level activity is able to produce results feasible for practice. SPM states the product value provided to the customer as the central concept overlapping with value-based software engineering. In this talk, the focus will be on the role of product managers and how the mode "reflection-in-action" can make them better in releasing the products to the market.
